FAQ
Q: What is a Public Adjuster?

A: A public adjuster is a licensed professional who advocates for the policyholder in filing, estimating, managing and negotiating an insurance claim. Bare in mind that only public adjusters and attorneys can legally represent the rights of the insured during an insurance claim process.

Q: Will hiring a public adjuster make my premiums go up?

A: Typically when insurance premiums are raised, it’s because many claims are being filed in one small area and the entire region’s premiums go up.

Also, a more accurate approach to price changes relates to the managed risk of exposure for the insurance companies; which in doing so, distribute their offer (policies) among their regions, increasing or reducing prices in specifics areas.

Q: Will the insurance company drop me if I use a public adjuster?

A: While your insurance carrier can choose not to renew your policy for ANY reason after your policy period is up, they cannot drop your coverage because you’ve decided to hire an advocate.

Usually carriers drop coverage if you stop paying your premiums, have a claim pattern, or have a loss deemed negligible on your part.

Why a Public Adjuster?
Don't Ask us, Ask OPPAGA
During the study period (March 2008 and June 2009), a review of 61,324 non-catastrophe claims (those unrelated to a declared state of emergency) found that policyholders using public adjusters received an estimated $9,379 per claim. Those not using a public adjuster received an estimated $1,391, a difference of 574%.
For catastrophic claims filed during the study period related to the 2005 hurricanes, policyholders using public adjusters received an estimated $17,187 per claim. Those not using public adjusters received an estimated $2,029, a difference of 747%.
"the work of public adjusting is defined by the noble work of helping someone navigate a path they have no way of navigating themselves and don't believe they can"
